Project Overview
SoftPay is a mobile banking concept designed to make everyday financial management feel simpler, calmer, and easier to navigate.
My role: Product Designer
I worked across the full design process, from competitor research and user flows to wireframes, visual design, prototyping, and usability testing.
Problem
Many banking apps combine a large number of financial features in interfaces that can feel dense and overwhelming. The challenge was to create a banking experience where key actions remain easy to find and understand.
Target Users
Digitally active users who manage everyday finances through their phone and expect fast access to payments, transfers, savings, and investments.
Business Objective
Create a competitive mobile banking experience that encourages users to manage more of their everyday financial activity within one product.
Discovery & Competitor Research
I analyzed leading mobile banking products to understand common navigation patterns, core financial features, onboarding approaches, and opportunities to simplify the overall experience.
1. Feature Overload
Important actions can become difficult to scan when too many features compete for attention.
2. Complex Financial Language
Financial products are easier to understand when information is presented progressively and in plain language.
3. Fragmented Core Actions
Everyday actions such as payments, transfers, and account management need clear and predictable entry points.
User Flow
Based on the research findings, I created user flows for key banking scenarios, including successful paths, validation states, and error cases. This helped define the structure of the experience before moving into wireframes.
Research & Initial Wireframes
Research findings informed the first wireframes, with a focus on prioritizing core financial actions, reducing unnecessary steps, and keeping complex features easy to understand.
Key Design Decisions
1. Prioritize Everyday Actions
The home screen gives the strongest visual priority to balance, payments, transfers, and other frequent actions.
2. Reduce Financial Complexity
Information is introduced progressively to avoid overwhelming users with too many options at once.
3. Create a Calmer Banking Experience
A restrained visual hierarchy and consistent interaction patterns make financial tasks feel more approachable.
Design System
I created a scalable design system to maintain visual and interaction consistency across different financial features and states.
Usability Testing Findings
I tested the interactive prototype with 6 users across key banking and investment flows. The main journeys were clear, but users needed more context before transactions and stronger confirmation before investment actions. These findings led to clearer funding information and an added review step before execution.
Investing Flow
The investing flow guides users from discovering an asset to reviewing and completing an investment, with a clear confirmation step before execution.
Final UI & Brand Elements
Project Outcome
The final concept brings everyday banking actions into a clearer and more consistent experience while keeping more complex financial features accessible without overwhelming the user.
If implemented, the product could be evaluated through task completion rate, feature adoption, drop-off across key flows, and overall user engagement.
